Explainable Machine Learning Models and Architectures

EXPLAINABLE MACHINE LEARNING MODELS AND ARCHITECTURESTHIS CUTTING-EDGE NEW VOLUME COVERS THE HARDWARE ARCHITECTURE IMPLEMENTATION, THE SOFTWARE IMPLEMENTATION APPROACH, AND THE EFFICIENT HARDWARE OF MACHINE LEARNING APPLICATIONS.Machine learning and deep learning modules are now an integral part of many smart and automated systems where signal processing is performed at different levels. Signal processing in the form of text, images, or video needs large data computational operations at the desired data rate and accuracy. Large data requires more use of integrated circuit (IC) area with embedded bulk memories that further lead to more IC area. Trade-offs between power consumption, delay and IC area are always a concern of designers and researchers. New hardware architectures and accelerators are needed to explore and experiment with efficient machine-learning models. Many real-time applications like the processing of biomedical data in healthcare, smart transportation, satellite image analysis, and IoT-enabled systems have a lot of scope for improvements in terms of accuracy, speed, computational powers, and overall power consumption. This book deals with the efficient machine and deep learning models that support high-speed processors with reconfigurable architectures like graphic processing units (GPUs) and field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), or any hybrid system. Whether for the veteran engineer or scientist working in the field or laboratory, or the student or academic, this is a must-have for any library. Electronic Communication Interception Technologies and Issues of Power

In cyberspace, data flows transit massively and freely on a planetary scale. The generalization of encryption, made necessary by the need to protect these exchanges, has resulted in states and their intelligence services forgoing listening and interception missions. The latter have had to find ways to break or circumvent this protection. This book analyzes the evolution of the means of communication and interception, as well as their implementation since the advent of the telegraph in the 19th century. It presents this sensitive subject from a technical, historical and political perspective, and answers several questions: who are the actors of interception? Who has produced the recent technologies? How are the markets for interception means organized? Are the means of protecting communications infallible? Or what forms of power do interceptions confer?Daniel Ventre has a PhD in political science and is a researcher at CESDIP Laboratory (CNRS, Paris-Saclay University, France).

Produktbild für Analyzing Non-Textual Content Elements to Detect Academic Plagiarism

Analyzing Non-Textual Content Elements to Detect Academic Plagiarism

Identifying plagiarism is a pressing problem for research institutions, publishers, and funding bodies. Current detection methods focus on textual analysis and find copied, moderately reworded, or translated content. However, detecting more subtle forms of plagiarism, including strong paraphrasing, sense-for-sense translations, or the reuse of non-textual content and ideas, remains a challenge. This book presents a novel approach to address this problem—analyzing non-textual elements in academic documents, such as citations, images, and mathematical content. The proposed detection techniques are validated in five evaluations using confirmed plagiarism cases and exploratory searches for new instances. The results show that non-textual elements contain much semantic information, are language-independent, and resilient to typical tactics for concealing plagiarism. Incorporating non-textual content analysis complements text-based detection approaches and increases the detection effectiveness, particularly for disguised forms of plagiarism. The book introduces the first integrated plagiarism detection system that combines citation, image, math, and text similarity analysis. Its user interface features visual aids that significantly reduce the time and effort users must invest in examining content similarity.Norman Meuschke is a Senior Researcher for Information Retrieval and Natural Language Processing at the University of Göttingen, Germany.Introduction.- Academic Plagiarism Detection.- Citation-based Plagiarism Detection.- Image-based Plagiarism Detection.- Math-based Plagiarism Detection.- Hybrid Plagiarism Detection System.- Conclusion and Future Work.- References.
